This appointment is about choosing the perfect gown for the bride's big day, not an open forum for unsolicited opinions. If your comments aren't helping her feel confident and radiant, kindly keep them to yourselves the only voice that truly matters here is hers.

Family/friends should always want what the bride wants. This appointment is not for mom, sister, grandma, best friend, or second cousin twice removed (they have had their time or will have their time). This appointment is for the BRIDE! Doesn't matter if its family/friends' style of wedding dress or not, it's the brides' style and her vision of her day.
